The Kanetsugu Zuiun series was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Seki Kanetsugu Knife Co. The Kanetsugu swordsmith lineage spans over 600 years, with the earliest documented blades dating back to 1345–1349.
In Buddhism, “Zuiun” means “Auspicious Cloud”, symbolizing good fortune.
The blades are forged from a 62-layer Damascus laminate with a core made of SPG2 (Super Powder Gold 2) — a premium powdered steel produced by Takefu Special Steel Co., the same company behind VG-10. SPG2 is considered the modern successor to the legendary R2 steel, known for its long-lasting sharpness and high performance.
The handle is made of stabilized wood, crafted into a seven-sided (heptagonal) shape, and decorated with a mosaic pin, combining style with traditional Japanese ergonomics.
Each knife in the Zuiun series is individually handcrafted and presented in a luxurious paulownia wooden gift box, completing its refined and traditional Japanese aesthetic.
